We rely on parent volunteers from each team to ensure the season runs smoothly. Below are examples of some of the jobs and what they entail. Volunteer positions will be selected at the preseason parent team meeting.
Team Parent: Act as the main liaison between the coach and parents. This is an important role requiring strong communication skills and can be shared between two parents.
Scorekeeper & Shot Clock: Specialized roles that require brief training prior to the start of the season. Usually shared among 3–4 volunteers to cover all home games.
Snack Shack: All parents are required to work a shift or two during home games (JV parents cover Freshman games, Varsity parents cover JV games, and Freshman parents cover Varsity games). A SignUpGenius link will be sent out before the first home game.
Drivers: If you plan to drive or chaperone players, please ensure you complete clearance through the Be A Mentor program. Players are not allowed to drive themselves to any high school game.
Fundraising: Help coordinate dine-out fundraisers throughout the season to support our program.
Sponsors: Identify and contact local businesses and larger companies as potential sponsors for the program. We offer digital ad space and snack shack sponsorships.
Crab Feed Auction Basket(s): Request donations (large and small) from local businesses and create gift baskets to auction off at the school-wide Crab Feed in May. All proceeds directly benefit the basketball program!
Program: Serve as the liaison for the printed basketball program. Gather team photos, action shots, and player details across Boys Basketball, Girls Basketball, and Pom. Work with our publishing vendor to ensure accuracy before printing and assist with distributing finished programs to the teams.
